Portable Work Station & Software Download Tools
Precision Group Consulting has become a preferred Xerox vendor for the design and development of Portable Work Station (PWS) diagnostic tools. The PWS is a unique windows GUI software program designed to run on a laptop allowing Xerox service representatives to debug faults, fine tune machines and update firmware. PGC was awarded the PWS for the DC12 in 1998 and has since delivered PWS tools for over 10 products including a recent next generation PWS framework which will reduce Xerox’s costs in the coming years. Embedded UI Cost-Down Firmware
Based on our embedded firmware experience, PGC was contracted to update User Interface MC68328 C++ code which resided on the DC265 ESS. PGC was assigned to modify serial communications to negotiate using the Xerox internal ESS protocol. Among many other tasks, PGC increased the throughput for ESS to UI flash programming and provided on-board flash programming and debug capabilities via an external PC. Due to our performance and ability to meet customer needs in a timely fashion, PGC was awarded the contract to also support the color UI version of this product.

Rotork Fluid System Actuator Catalog, Rotork Fluid System
Rotork contracted PGC to develop a Windows PC-based interactive catalog for their products. This tool was uniquely designed to save Rotork money by allowing them to make product updates without requiring code modification. It included a computer aided product selector, pictorial company overview, and the ability to open and examine PDF documents. Our customer was very pleased with the final product and has encouraged headquarters to use our services for their product catalogs worldwide.

InspectionEasy™, TCS Industries, Inc.
TCS Industries hired Precision Group to develop a state of the art manufacturing inspection tool to drive down defects and optimize the manufacturing process. The result was InspectionEasy™. As quoted from the owner on the InspectionEasy™ website:

Automatic Proofer, Latran
PGC has proven that they are more than able to perform jobs for companies outside the Rochester area. For the purpose of evaluating our capabilities, PGC was contracted to develop a module of the control firmware for an automated laser proof printing machine. During this process and competing with other software providers local to PGI, PGC won the customer’s confidence and received the entire contract to develop embedded MC68332 firmware running on a pSoS operating system. PGC contributed in the state machine driven system design and error handling strategies in addition to offering assistance on mechanical and electrical issues. PGC was praised by management of PGI for meeting deadlines and responding quickly to design changes and defects.


Vital Cab Filter / Demodulator Board, Alstom Signaling
PGC was awarded the design, implementation and testing of a vital safety filter/demodulator dual frequency board to be used on railway cabs. PGC designed and generated schematics for the system using a redundant ADSP-2187 DSP and Xilinx FPGA, each performing identical logic, to maintain vital safety. The DSP code was written in C with in-line Assembly and the FPGA was designed using VHDL. PGC successfully completed this technically difficult contract and provided Alstom Signaling with the equipment they required.


Software Specialists, The Rochester Group (TRG)
Assisted TRG with ongoing feature enhancements of DocuBroker, the Xerox Pricing and Sales database system. This work was performed in a Unix environment using CORBA and C++. Other work has included database systems requiring knowledge of Visual Basic and PeopleSoft.


CAM Profiler Test Fixture, Amarel Precision Instruments
After our successful project on DFOS, Amarel Precision Instruments called upon the software talents of PGC once again for the design and development of a fixture to measure and analyze photographic zoom lens CAM profiles. PGC was contracted to provide the system design, software development, software/hardware integration and testing of this tool. Software tasks included serial, digital I/O input drivers, a graphical user interface and various behavioral code. Once again, PGC met the needs of our customer and completed the job successfully.


Dual Field Optical System (DFOS)
In 1995, we started on our first project hired by Triptar Lens Company and Amarel Precision Instruments to develop the software for a 4-axis non-contact remote controlled double microscope system, called DFOS (Dual Field Optical System), to serve as a non-contact probe on a coordinate measuring machine for Northrop Grumman. PGC was responsible for the rack mounted PC based hardware design and for all related software development. Tasks included remote I/O & ADC hardware drivers, Frame Grabber / Image Analysis control software, and a full-featured Windows GUI. We completed our first job and made our customer successful with our abilities and hard working mentality.
